What matters...?
Nothing really pisses me off big time other than the waste of time and energy. I am amazed at how much time and effort we invest on insignificant endeavors rather then directing our energy on things that really matter. What's the matter with us? What has gone terribly wrong with us. Have we just become a massive collection of degenerates?
Not a few days ago I saw this video campaign against texting while driving. Yes, we do have a campaign against texting while driving. That is apart from the campaign against drunk driving and a myriad of other campaigns. Imagine the effort exerted on the creation of that video clip just to get a message across. A message that is supposed to be self-explanatory. On the contrary, we have to spend time, money and effort, not to mention internet bandwidth just to get that message across.
Anyhow, let me join in the fracas and add my two cents. The video shows three teenage girls inside a car. The one on the wheels was testing when an incoming truck collide with the car she was driving that resulted to a huge road mishap claiming several lives and injuring a few more. The clip is quite graphic in its presentation but then again, the message is quite simple. All of these happen because of texting!? Give me a break.
It's not as if we are missing the point here. I am never and never will be a texting fan in the first place. However, it is better to put things in the right perspective. Things like these happen because there are those among us who would rather do something else other than that one thing that they are supposed to be doing.
Isn't it about time for us to be a little bit more proactive and be responsible in discerning the consequences of our actions? Let's look at where are investments are. Are we putting our efforts on the more important aspects of our lives or are left behind again doing mundane undertakings that would never bring us anywhere?
